TIMELINE OF EVENTS

Huff Delivers History

1952

John Huff Ice Cream company is founded.

 

1960's

Jack's wife, Aggie, opens Huff Ice Cream parlor on the business side of their home.

 

1970's

Huff Ice Cream takes significant steps towards distribution as it begins a 25 year relationship with Dairylea Ice cream. Jack builds a storage freezer next to his manufacturing room in Nineveh to prepare for increased distribution opportunities.

 

1980's

The convenience store industry growth provides product and territory expansion. Huff Ice cream acquires Simonson Brothers Ice cream distributors in Oneonta, NY. Huff Ice Cream relocates from Nineveh, NY to Sidney, NY.

 

1990's

As distribution opportunities open up in the grocery channel and food service frozen food. category, the team grows from $1mm to $10mm. Invested in 4900 sqft freezer expansion.

 

2000's

With the addition of the salty snack category and increased channel development. to drug and dollar store locations, sales grow to $20mm. Huff Ice Cream celebrates over 50 years of business. Third generation, Alex Huff, joins the team full time. Huff acquires Tri Lakes Ice cream in Tupper lake, NY. Begins distribution in the northern Adirondack region. Invested in 14,400 sqft freezer expansion.

 

2010's

As dollar store distribution expands service area to over 53 counties in NY and PA. Revenue increases to over $30mm. Frozen food and refrigerated food sales become top 5 revenue categories. Invested in 3,000 sqft refrigerated expansion.

 

2020's

Huff launches a complete "dairy program" to its customers. The Huff team receives a "Vendor Of The Year" award from ‘Kinney Drugs’. Salty snack sales exceed $4mm.

 

2025

Huff Ice Cream merges with MHI, positioning the Huff team and company for a successful future.
